In 1995 COMET was established for the purpose of co-ordinate the experiences of various professionals of the customs brokerage, maritime agency, transports and forwarding. The partners who founded the company held to be able to enlarge the range of services offered to their customers, in the light of the new European mentality toward monopolies. This brings partners to include in the range of services, the movements of goods within port area and loading/unloading of ships. In this light several actions are taken in both ports where Comet is directly working (Messina and Milazzo) and various agreements are drawn with prime carriers (Shipping Lines, Arilines and road carriers). Since 1997 Comet Srl has got his Quality Assurance Sistem Iso 9001:2000 certified from Rina Registro Navale Italiano (certificate number 869/97/S) for the following services:
- Provision of multimodal logistic operator services
- custom agents
- national and international forwarding agent
- provision of management services for marinas and yacht harbours

Partners who established Comet are:

Ivo Blandina, president, shipping agent and broker, customs broker. He was born in 1960 in Messina and in 1978 he obtained the diploma of marine cadet; he was on merchant ships for about one year as mate apprentice and in 1980 he started his activity of customs broker with an important agency of Messina; in 1987 he established with Rodolfo Marullo, the shipping agency Blamar S.n.c.; presently Ivo Blandina follows all growth processes of Comet s.r.l. and the project of a terminal for passengers ships.

Danilo Blandina, administrator, shipping agent and broker, independent marine surveyor. He was born in Napoli in 1957 and in 1975 he obtained the diploma of marine cadet; he was on merchant ships for about ten years as mate and in 1982 he was licenced as sea captain; after various charges as mate and captain on merchant, passenger and oceanographic vessels, he joined the company and obtained the licences of shipbroker and agent and marine surveyor. Presently is in charge for all maritime business where Comet is involved including the survey for prime P&I clubs and insurance companies.

Rodolfo Marullo, administrator, customs broker. He was born in 1952 and degreed in Economy c/o the University of Messina. Rodolfo Marullo is following the steps of the father's company (established in 1952) and he follows the road transport sector of Comet and all customs problems involved.
